The Two Senior Officers Instants Before the Assailant Received Electric Shock

A senior officer who rushed to the assistance of a colleague who was ambushed by a knifeman was granted the Royal Recognition for Bravery.

Sgt Tim Ansell struggled against 27-yr-old Jacob Brown subsequent to he placed a weapon to the neck of his colleague Sergeant Marc Foster.

Brown launched his attack as the law enforcement personnel and their colleague, PC Marcus Wolstencroft, were talking to a driver subsequent to a traffic accident in that location in summer 2023.

Brown attacked with blade the two Sgt Ansell and Sergeant Foster prior to PC Wolstencroft incapacitated him with a Taser.

"Officer attacked," the officer was heard to say over his radio.

Bodyworn and dashboard camera video shared by the force showed Brown, that was clothed in black with a hood covering head, run up to Sgt Foster from behind with a blade extended.

He struck the policeman who stumbled and went down to the street, before Sergeant Ansell stepped in and attempted to subdue him to the pavement although being repeatedly struck with the knife.

PC Wolstencroft Stopped the Aggressor, Jacob Brown, with a Stun Gun

PC Wolstencroft pulled his stun gun and awaited a open target, concluding the confrontation to an conclusion.

Sgt Ansell stated audibly: "I need assistance on my throat here, I've been stabbed in the neck."

Sergeant Ansell received two open wounds to his neck and further injuries to his arms and body, whereas Sergeant Foster experienced knife wounds.

The department reported Sgt Foster used his bare hands to control his fellow officer's hemorrhaging prior to emergency responders arrived.

The latest honor comes subsequent to the trio of policemen received organizational Bravery Awards in late 2023 and the John Egerton Bravery Award from the local union branch in April 2024.

They further earned a North West Courage Honor in July 2024.

"The efforts of the entire team eventually saved each other and resulted in no members of the public experienced any wounds."

Brown was sentenced to an indefinite hospital order in spring 2024, per authorities.
