'It's like they never miss a pass': Swansea's Ethan Galbraith resumes battle with Pep's side.

Ethan Galbraith can't help but smile as he reminisces about the nail-biting closing stages of his team's remarkable turnaround triumph against Nottingham Forest in the EFL Cup. The encounter ended with Galbraith picking up a spectator's eyewear after the on-field celebration.

As the match entered added time, Galbraith struck the post with a powerful strike from outside the box, and his teammate immediately slammed home the loose ball before sprinting toward the East Stand to celebrate, with fans swarming the players.

Remarkable Recovery

This sealed an unbelievable recovery given Swansea had trailed 2-0 deep into the second half. In the celebrations, there was some collateral damage. He shared, "There was a supporter shouting out and myself and Keysy [Josh Key] were wondering: 'What's he on about here?' Then we saw the glasses. It was a bit of banter putting them on. We are on the pitch as athletes but we're people, too, so to have a bit of craic with the fans is always good."

Pep Guardiola Test

That win booked a upcoming fixture at home against Pep Guardiola's side on Wednesday, a club Galbraith ran close at the comparable phase of the FA Cup with Leyton Orient in February. The athletic midfielder had arguably the best view when his former team took the lead in spectacular fashion, with Jamie Donley's volley from about 45 yards going in via the woodwork and the Stefan Ortega. Many argued that it was credited as an own goal.

"You would have wished they would've given it to him for taking the effort on from that distance," says Galbraith, who started in midfield before moving to right defensive wing after Orient changed formation. That meant facing off against the England international, with whom he exchanged jerseys, and the attacker was among the City players who praised the way the underdogs approached the match.

City's Quality

"Fitness-wise they are outstanding but even the fundamentals and routine actions, they can just execute repeatedly," he explains. "It appears that they always find their target and they understand how to control and slow down a game. You can believe you're holding your own and then suddenly they will just fizz a pass through a line without you even spotting it. You have to be focused at all times of the game. It takes a resilient mindset and concentration just to stay in the game."

New Chapter

Swansea were keen on Galbraith in January and fought off rivals to sign him in the summer in a significant move. He established himself as a crowd pleaser across a couple of years at Leyton Orient and has swiftly replicated that in south Wales. At his previous team he linked up again with his former manager, who earlier gave Galbraith his debut prolonged spell in senior football on loan at his loan club from United. Then came a temporary move at fourth-tier Salford City, before he permanently left Manchester United.

Growth Journey

"I was perhaps a somewhat inexperienced going into men's football. I think many athletes would say youth team games is completely distinct. Sometimes it seems play is circulated without much intensity. There are limited hard challenges. Once you start playing men's games you have to adjust fast."

National Team Success

He has demonstrated that maturation for club and country, performing well for his national side, who remain in contention for the international competition next summer via the knockout phase and for whom he has been selected in the past five games, including home and away fixtures against Germany. The ex-coach, Galbraith's ex- international manager, paid him the highest praise, saying he was Northern Ireland's "little Iniesta or Xavi" given how he controls possession and his eye for a killer pass.

Humble Beginnings

It has been an incredible journey for the youngster from the neighborhood in his hometown, just outside the capital, who grew up watching his father, Stuart, also a midfielder, play for a local club.

Red Devils Debut

Galbraith's only game for the Red Devils came in Central Asia in 2019, a European competition trip to the host city, where they featured on an plastic turf and the stadium roof was closed owing to the weather of bitter cold. "It was a extended travel and it was freezing," he says, chuckling. "The days leading up, the academy prospects practiced as a group, so that aided our adjustment. Just to travel with the first team and get a couple of minutes at the end was amazing."

Departing Old Trafford

What was the challenge was it to depart Manchester United, the club he joined from Linfield aged a teenager? "It was relatively straightforward, because I got to the stage where I knew I wasn't going to make it at first-team level. I'm hugely grateful for the experience gained but it got to the point where I felt I had to take a different path, join a smaller club and play men's football. Now I'm steadily working my way back up."

New Environment

This occurs during the early part of the afternoon at the team's practice facility but Galbraith has somewhere to be at the early evening: a road rules assessment, another progress toward getting on the road. Before his recent move to his new neighborhood, the young professional was a regular in Swansea's so-called player transport, a minibus driven by team personnel, the drivers, which transports players to and from training and matches.

"I travel with the Portuguese player, the Brazilian, the midfielder – Melker Widell used to be in it but has begun using his own car. It's nice to spend time with the teammates but I'm hoping to be the following person out of the minibus and on the road. Franco enjoys practical jokes; he's always up to all sorts."

Fan Interactions

During his time at Leyton Orient, Galbraith would blend in with followers on the Tube after commuting at the area he lived in. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
